The retreat is only ten minutes drive from the beach in a beautiful and typically Canarian village. With amazing volcanic scenery and incredible vistas of the ocean, this is the perfect respite from the busy day to day. The villa is also conveniently located for those wishing to get out and explore the island. There are walking paths and a bus stop close by, going to the beach hourly and a transfer is provided from the villa to the beach once a week.
Accommodation & food
More than just a retreat, this is your journey. Nestled amongst volcanoes, rolling hills and windmills, with breathtaking ocean vistas, you’ll find this retreat, a rejuvenating and unique mix of: yoga and pilates classes, meditation, vegetarian cousine and sunny days.
In the garden you can find a large pool surrounded by sunbeds, hammock and several patios. One time per week the retreat offers a transfer to and from the beaches in Corralejo. If you want to go there more than that there is a bus stop nearby with departures to Corralejo every hour. Around the retreat you can find nice walking paths and only 5 minutes walk from the retreat you can find two nice restaurants, a bakery and a small store.
You will be staying in a shared twin room or a single room, depending on your preference. All rooms have different Sapnish styles. There are a few rooms with ensuite bathroom but most rooms share bathroom.
All meals are vegetarian, with a mix of vegan and glutenfree options. They are composed and cooked by the retreats own chef and nutrisionist Jo, who is also a pilates instructor. She uses natural sweeteners in the food, whole wheat products, homemade bread, as little lactose as possible, healthy fat and a lot of seeds and asian spices. Every day you will be served vegetarian brunch and dinner.

This package includes three days surfing (equipment, wetsuits, beach transfers and expert tuition included).
Please note, surf courses run based on the best conditions for you to learn in (tides, wind etc). This may mean you will miss one of the two daily classes at the lodge or retreat. When you sign up for the package, it does take into account you may miss one class on your surf days – not to worry – there are always 2 daily classes and the surf days are often 4+ hours so you will be getting plenty of activity and value for money.
The surf classes and courses are provided by International Surfing Association (ISA) and British Surfing Association (BSA) qualified instructors, who have spent many years on the island sharing their passion for the sport and Fuerteventura’s waves. Surfing classes and courses are available for all abilities and levels, from absolute beginners to aspiring pros. Go surfing for a day or take a course – see below for more details.
Please note the surf pick up time is dependent on the tide for the best learning conditions – this may mean missing a morning or afternoon class or leaving class a little early. We have extra classes in our schedule to compensate for this (some days with three classes daily). The course is planned so you have plenty of action but still have energy to enjoy your week – just leave it to us to arrange a great holiday for you!

Jo is in charge of the menu at the retreat and inspires us all with her ability to make really healthy food taste really good. Having studied nutrition for many years, Jo knows the power of food to improve health, energy and wellbeing and prepares her meals to do exactly that. She loves to pass on her knowledge and passion for food throughout the retreat and in her workshops and nutrition weeks.
Originally from Denmark, Jo is quickly becoming the Canary Island’s go to expert on all things nutrition and you may catch her being interviewed on the radio. She has successfully campaigned to improve nutritional education within schools, and is experiencing widespread support for her amazing cookbook, ‘Truly Healthy, Truly Delicious‘.
Jo is also an advanced practitioner and inspiring instructor of Stott Pilates. Her classes focus strongly on understanding correct form, body awareness and body synergy, giving students the understanding and skill to progress in their Pilates safely and quickly.
Jo’s passion for fitness and overall wellbeing shine through in all that she does, and we are delighted to have her as part of the team.

Frauke is a real reflection of what she is teaching, and each class with her is an experience. Originally from Germany, Frauke has lived and worked in Spain for more than 30 years.
Frauke has been teaching and practicing Kundalini Yoga for many years. She is certified through the Kundalini Research Institute, teaching in the style of Yogi Bhajan and is a full member of the Spanish Association of Kundalini Yoga.
Frauke is passionate about what she does and each class and meditation she leads help us to connect and to cleanse. You will enjoy every minute of her class, from the gentle meditation through to the energetic asanas, to the final relaxation.

Valentina is the principal yoga teacher from September to December 2014. is an inspiring teacher, and blends classical Hatha Yoga adapted for all levels with vinyasa yoga to make classes fun, challenging and inspiring. She connects with each and every student and her warm, open demeanor allow her to really see what each student needs. Having trained using ancient Indian methods learned in her various studies all over the world. Classes with Valentina improve agility, muscle tone, strength, flexibility and breath control.
Valentina believes in yoga’s physical and mental benefits, providing a holistic harmony in our bodies through asanas and pranayama. This helps to promote a balance between the nervous system and endocrine system, then directly influencing all organs in the body, providing an improvement in overall health and wellbeing.
Valentina loves living and teaching yoga in Fuerteventura where she can surf, kitesurf and body board, and feel the benefits of her yoga practice through improved coordination and flexibility, and sees that yoga improves self confidence and helps us feel connected. Erika believes that Yoga is a very powerful instrument for the purification and strengthening of the body and mind. Yoga allows us to reach a balance and harmony with our lives, and with the world around us. Yoga is a vehicle which allows us to live up to the full potential of our consciousness.
Erika also believes in the effectiveness and benefits of Pilates practice, for rehabilitation and strengthening. She sees how complementary the yoga and Pilates methods are, and when used together they allow us to use our bodies to their full potential, strong, flexible and free from injury.
Erika loves cooking and believes in the spiritual value of food – she knows that nourishhment for body and soul are interconnected. For Erika, vegetarian food is the only way to grow, following the path of yoga to a more spiritual, healty life.

Jamie Isaac is an International well-being specialist and Pilates teacher, based in Southern California, where he teaches from the Fluid Art Pilates & Wellbeing Studio. Jamie Isaac
Originally from the Isle of Wight, England, Jamie graduated in Physical Education and Sports Sciences from Exeter University. His pursuit of knowledge and work within human movement has lead him into the fitness industry as a Personal Trainer, an elite Trampoline coach, as well as developing a passionate interest in yoga and meditation. It was through these pathways that Jamie naturally discovered the amazing method of Pilates.
Jamie has a real passion for teaching and improving the wellbeing of all his clients and through his unique fun, empowering and compassionate teaching style is gaining a reputation for getting results that take clients far beyond their goals.
His initial training in Pilates was undertaken in the UK studying Pilates with an orientation towards rehab and postural correction. This very individualized and adaptive approach to the method naturally lead him to take further studies and he has been blessed to be able to learn from Santa Fe’s Michele Larsson, and Celia Hulton, whose incredible knowledge and open hearted approach, has been inspirational. Their experiences with the pre-Pilates work of Eve Gentry and their wonderful appreciation for movement has influenced Jamie’s direction and teaching style greatly.
Jamie is currently honored to be studying with 1st Generation Master Teacher, Lolita San Miguel, as part of her Master Mentor Program.
He has hosted retreats and workshops across the globe as well as been a featured instructor at the Vitality Show in London, the OM Yoga Show in London and the Mind, Body Spirit Festival in Brighton. Last year Jamie taught for Pilates master, Ray Kurshals at the prestigious Pilates Santa Fe studio, in New Mexico.
Jamie’s diverse experience is reflected in his past client roster, which has included elite trampolinists, a World Cup champion Kite boarder, touring musicians as well as work within the special educational needs sector.
Jamie is also a strong believer in giving back and in 2012 saw the release of his Pilates flow DVD. With music by Moby and proceeds going to charity this DVD brings a mix of classical and contemporary exercises, that allows you to build on the principles of alignment, and centering. The workout would be a nice progression for guests to follow on from their time at the retreat, or for those already with some Pilates experience, looking to challenge themselves further.
Jamie is an avid surfer and when not teaching Pilates can be found in the ocean or sharing the joys of the beach with his son.
Guest Yoga Instructor
Andrea is the founder of OneYoga Studio in Manchester and a regular contributor to ‘Ask The Expert’ (Manchester Evening News). She combines her many years of experience studying and working with the human body and movement with an in-depth study of nutrition and raw foods and their impact on overall wellbeing. She is also trained in ante- and post-natal care.
She joins the team in the Fuerteventura sunshine with her natural and empathetic teaching style and infectious enthusiasm. Her holistic and sophisticated approach of total body, mind and spirit integration is as accessible to those new to yoga as it is challenging for the more practiced yogi.
Naturally approachable and caring, her passion is to bring the joy and release of yoga to her students. Her captivating, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed approach continues to attract a strong following of committed yogis both in her studio and through retreats across the globe.

Annie discovered yoga through the hatha style but has become a talented teacher and practitioner of ashtanga vinyasa flow. Annie integrates a dynamic series aimed at the development of strength (especially lower back and abs) with focus throughout the practice. Having studied ashtanga yoga she utilises the powerful flow of the surya namaskara (sun salutation) A and B from the ashtanga series.
Her main attention is to continuous flow with proper breath, aiming to develop a self-dependant unity of movements and breath under the guidance of the teacher. Annie is a well-respected power vinyasa flow teacher within the professional surfing and windsurfing communities and she is the featured yoga expert in a book about power yoga for surfing.
Annie is committed to her journey with yoga and regularly takes part in courses and workshops with inspirational mentors and world-renowned teachers. We are delighted that she chooses Azul as her base in between her studies, and always look forward to trying and sharing the new things she has learned.
You can book your flight to come directly to Fuerteventura airport (FUE). For a wider choice of flights, you can fly to Gran Canaria (Las Palmas) or Lanzarote Arrecife airport (ACE). From Gran Canaraias you take a domestic flight with Bintercanarias to Fuerteventura and from Lanzarote you take a taxi or bus to the harbour and from there the 20-minute ferry crossing to Fuerteventura.

Fuerteventura airport is 35 minutes from the villa. We recommend that you allow us to organise a transfer for you. This will ensure that you have no waiting around at the airport and that your driver knows exactly where you are going, allowing you to get to us and settle in as smoothly and stress free as possible.
The cost is between 15-40 EURO per person depending on how many people sharing the transfer.
We always try to arrange shared transfers for guests arriving at similar times to keep your costs down. Coming by public transport is not recommended.
…from Lanzarote Arrecife airport
Lanzarote Arrecife airport is approximately one and a half hours away. From the airport you take the bus (one hour) or a taxi (30 minutes) to the ferry terminal at Playa Blanca. The ferry takes 20 minutes to Corralejo ferry terminal. It is then just 15 minutes to the villa by taxi. The last ferry crossing to Corralejo from Playa Blanca, Lanzarote is at 19:00 so please make sure your flight arrives by 16:00 if travelling with luggage.
