At the retreat we take great care with the food that we offer. The retreat owners have a long-standing interest in nutrition and wellbeing and that makes them very selective in the choice of products that are used at the retreat. Only seasonal, ecological (organic) fruits and vegetables and fresh eggs which come from the local Maharishi Centre or other reliable sources are used. The grains and pulses used to prepare lots of the Ayurvedic dishes are also ecological and sourced from the Maharishi Centre or local health food shops. Michael is very passionate about his cooking and he takes great pleasure in the preparation of his dishes. His menu is carefully designed to give a varied and balanced diet.
Yoga classes are held in the yoga studio or al-fresco on the large terrace overlooking the mountains and with the village of Frigiliana in the distance. The yoga studio, originally an artists studio, was converted into this spacious and well equipped room with a wooden floor and sun-roof.

Mirka’s involvement in Yoga started as an expansion of her very early interest in Eastern Philosophies and Alternative Therapies (acupuncture, shiatsu, aromatherapy and ayurveda). As yoga itself has a very holistic approach to life it very quickly captured her imagination. She started her love affair with yoga in 1990 at the Iyengar Institute at Maida Vale in London. Mirka studied under well known and established teachers like Mira and Shyam Mehta (authors of "Yoga: The Iyengar Way"), Sylvia Prescott and Jan Podebsky.
While she carried on with her Iyengar yoga, attending regular classes with Geraldine Ross, Tusse Silberg and then with Ros Bell, her curiosity of mind led her to expand her knowledge by practising other forms of yoga. Mirka studied for several years with Tim Cummins in North London and during the following years she also studied Tai Chi (short form) and Pilates. Throughout these years the appeal of Iyengar Yoga stayed with her. The perfect balance between art and science found in Iyengar yoga appealed to her long interest in anatomy, alternative medicine and her artistic background (she studied Art in Poznan Academy Of Fine Arts in Poland). This interest promoted her to embark on a teachers training course at the North East London Iyengar Yoga Institute Iyengar Institute, with Rosamund Bell.
Mirka taught in North London until she moved to Suffolk in 2006 where she ran weekly yoga classes from her private yoga studio. She also taught at the Self Centre (yoga and alternative therapies centre) in Bury St Edmunds. In her teaching she concentrates on refining and correcting asanas (postures) putting emphasis on alignment, precision, selective relaxation and awareness in the postures. She encourages observation of the body, breath and mind during the yoga practice to improve our concentration, focus and mindfulness which will benefit our daily living. Mirka believes that through dedicated yoga practice we develop the ability to pay attention to present moment and control our forever “chattering” minds. Our inner self becomes more harmonious and peaceful. We find more meaningful, and kinder way to relate to everything in life....including ourselves and others. A strong, healthy body, calm, flexible and compassionate mind are essential to live and enjoy life to its full potential.
Over the years Mirka has developed her own unique style of teaching deeply rooted in her Iyengar training supported by knowledge of Patanjali Ashtanga, Ayurveda and other forms of yoga.
Mirka is a dedicated yoga practitioner. She regularly travels to attend classes and workshops with Senior Iyengar teachers to deepen her knowledge, practice and her teaching.
